An Introduction to Alan Watts

Posted in Uncategorized on September 30, 2010 by oscarmassivehands

Alan Watts was a British philosopher, speaker and writer that was renowned for introducing ‘Eastern’ thoughts, ideals and beliefs to the ‘Western World’. Watts was born in January 6, 1915 and passed away in November 16, 1973.

His legacy includes over 25 books on many topics ranging from ‘Self and Personal Identity’, ‘Reality’, ‘Higher Consciousness’, ‘God’ and mans quest for happiness through trivial and material gain. Watts also left behind many tape recordings; using his melodic British accent to illustrate his points simply and in a language that makes understanding simple and effortless.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone from the hit cartoon ‘Southpark’ have animated these tape recordings and here are two of Oscar’s favourites from the archives.

1000 names

Posted in Uncategorized on September 29, 2010 by oscarmassivehands

Um, ok. This is unreal! Perhaps simmering away somewhere under the mass market radar is ‘1000 names’, with some of the most exciting beats I have heard in some time; not that they have not been at the forefront of their wonk/beats game for some time now. A glitch, wonk, electro-hip-hop beat madness that is set for some super dooper R.E.S.P.E.C.T here from Oscar Massive Hands. BIG UP!!

Check out this track called ‘Whiz Bang Science’. Luvin this…

Fever Ray

Fever Ray is the solo project from Karin Dreijer Andersson, who along with her brother makes up the Swedish elctro group ‘The Knife’. This girl has the most incredible voice, and is smokin hot too. Releasing her debut single ‘If I Had A Heart’ in only December 2008, she has since released a whole album that will blow you away. One of the most irresistible voices and addictive audio architectures to hear; I listened to this album, and then instantly stared it again… and again… and again…!

Here is her first released single, ‘If I Had A Heart’,

and one of my favourites ‘Concrete Walls’.

Maybe this one too… ‘When i grow up’.
